Riverside Community Church is a place where you and your family can explore who God is, meet new friends and enjoy some great food and music. Meeting every Sunday in Pine Rivers on the northside of Brisbane, we are a contemporary Christian church that aims to be a church in action. We meet not just on Sundays, but all during the week at people's homes and workplaces.
Transform Your Thinking
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
We are entering into an exciting season at Riverside. Ursula, myself and the girls are so excited to be part of what God is doing among us. In a sense we are all in transition; some physically and some more spiritually. That we are moving is true. Moving from place to another always calls for one to rethink what you stand for. That process necessitates us to look at things with a different set of glasses and that might be the case for all of us as we look at the different levels at which we respond to the call of God in our lives to live in obedience to Him. For some it means to get moved beyond the warmth and comfort of our beds in the morning to stand up, read the Word and pray. For others answering the call of God means to reach out and share the Good news of Jesus. Or, like for Peter it was to look after the sheep Jesus entrusted to him. Which ever way we look at it, God brings us to a place where He transforms our thinking.
Transformations come when we adopt new ways of thinking about ourselves, our jobs, our family, our friends and Jesus. Your life will move in the direction of your most dominant thoughts. You can choose to think according to the world’s system or according to God’s system. The world’s system says to do whatever you can to get ahead and make yourself happy. But in God’s system, you find happiness and blessing by serving and putting others first. God doesn’t want us to have an attitude that is self-centered, or jealous, or greedy. He knows that those thoughts end in destruction. God wants us to live a blessed and peaceful life. That’s why the scripture tells us to renew our minds, or transform our thinking. We have to make sure our thoughts are the same as God’s thoughts. We are entering a new season in the future of Riverside Community Church and it is of utmost importance that we transform our thinking. Let us think new thoughts about Jesus. Think on His goodness. Just think how much He really loves us. Think of His patience. Now, just thank Him. Jesus said that whatever the heart is full of, the mouth will speak about. Just like a computer, whatever you allow into your mind is what will come out in your attitude and actions. The more you meditate on God’s Word, the more you will transform your thinking to be like God’s thinking. Choose to focus on the Word of God and allow your mind to be renewed. As you focus on God’s thoughts, you will see your actions become more like His, and you will see His hand of blessing in every area of your life.
My prayer for us is that the Father will help each one of us to allow the Holy Spirit to renew our minds by the Word of God so that our thoughts become His thoughts.
Father, Transform me into Your image! In Jesus Name. Amen.
In His Service and for His Glory!

We're going to PNG: and we need you!
Calling all teachers, handymen/carptenters and children's workers. From 23rd September to 3rd October, World Hope is taking a team to Papua New Guinea to provide some much needed aid for a local school. With approximately 200 students and only 2 teachers, these students have a school building with no furniture; and so sit on a concrete floor in their classrooms. If you can build furniture, equip teachers, or just spend some time with these remarkable children, we'd love to have you on board! You need to be fit and healthy, and raise your own funds for the journey (approx $2200).
